New Mexico Bankruptcy Lawyer
Albuquerque, New Mexico Bankruptcy Law Experts
My name is Mike Daniels, and I have been practicing law since I graduated from the University of New Mexico Law School in 1986. During that time I have primarily worked in the area of New Mexico bankruptcy law. I have represented debtors, creditors and trustees in every kind of New Mexico bankruptcy that is generally available, including Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and Reorganization Bankruptcy. I want you to find the best possible New Mexico bankruptcy option for you. I will strive to obtain the best possible result for my clients.
The horribly misnamed “Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005" requires me to tell you I am a Debt Relief Agent. As a New Mexico Bankruptcy lawyer, it also requires that I have a written fee agreement with anyone I represent immediately upon speaking with them. This foolish requirement makes it more difficult for New Mexico bankruptcy lawyers like me to have telephone consultations with clients. The entire statute is poorly drafted, internally inconsistent, and designed to interfere as much as possible with the rights of American citizens, which have existed for over one hundred years, to file a bankruptcy when they need it. I am happy to report that despite the passage of this bill, New Mexico bankruptcy relief is still available, and I am happy to help my clients understand the provisions of the new law.
I have been helping others as a New Mexico bankruptcy lawyer for years, and I know there is nothing more stressful than encountering financial hardship. Studies show that most bankruptcies are the result of divorce or single parenthood, job loss or catastrophic injury. There is a prevalent myth in our society that a class of people gleefully skip out on bills they could easily pay. My twenty years of experience representing debtors in Albuquerque, New Mexico tells me this simply is not true. People who can afford to pay their bills generally pay them as they come due. People who cannot afford to pay them, usually because they have recently been divorced, injured or lost their job, generally do not pay them. People who experience these problems soon learn of the casual and callous cruelty of the collection industry. Collection agents, independent and employed by creditors, try their best to bully and intimidate these stressed out debtors into skipping house payments, car payments or utility payments to feed their voracious appetite for triple digit interest and finance charges, late fees and overlimit fees. They call the debtors repeatedly, and exploit the debtors’ personal feelings of shame. They send demand letters, and may ultimately file lawsuits against these debtors. If you are going through these stressful events I hope you will consider setting a free consultation with me, so that I can outline your choices. Any decision you make will be momentous, and so it should be fully informed. I am a New Mexico bankruptcy lawyer that wants to give you the legal support you need to take action and put your finances back in order.
Email is the best way to get a hold of me.
