About our Firm

About Us:

I graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1986. I worked for a small bankruptcy firm from 1986 until 1990; I opened my own office in January of 1991. Since that time I have represented hundreds of people in all the various aspects of bankruptcy law. My legal assistant Mary Chavez is involved in every aspect of my bankruptcy practice.

Our Mission:

Studies show that although attorneys are generally disliked, most people who have hired lawyers to represent them like their lawyer. There are a few things people invariably dislike even about their own lawyers. First and foremost is unresponsiveness. The phone in the typical law office rings off the hook, and there is a constant stream of interruptions, so prompt responses to client calls are difficult. Second is the cost of hiring an attorney. Attorneys services are definitely expensive, and Mary and I understand that. These two goals are somewhat in conflict; if I respond immediately to every call, the bill will increase. If I try to call only when several items require attention, the bill stays lower, but client frustration may increase. This, unfortunately, will always be a problem. We try to minimize the problem by providing thorough explanations when needed, and by allocating tasks between Mary and I as carefully as possible to provide a thorough, excellent and cost effective representation to every client. I bill out Mary’s services at a much lower hourly rate, so she can spend more time on individual cases without increasing the expense unmanageably.
